Old Saybrook Middle School offers an environment, which fosters the
growth of the individual student and eases his/her transition from
the elementary
classroom to the specialized subject program of the high school. The
school is designed to meet the unique educational, personal, physical,
social and emotional needs of the fourth through eighth grade students.
In addition to developing interpersonal relationships and respect for
the values of others, each student has the opportunity for maximum growth
in knowledge, confidence and self-worth. OSMS offers a varied program
of exploratory subjects and extra-curricular activities, which strive
to foster a student’s curiosity and willingness to learn. This
program continues to develop and strengthen basic skills. Each group
of students is taught by a team of teachers who rely upon common planning
time for coordinating team activities and discussing student development.
The school provides an environment for successful achievement and challenges
each student to perform well at his/her own level of ability.
Old Saybrook Middle School received the NELMS Spotlight School Award in 2003.
