On the Same Literacy Page

Literacy in ALL Classrooms:
Teaching Everyone About “Making Meaning”!

A comprehensive literacy professional development experience and planning process designed by NELMS for middle level students and teachers to ensure increased Literacy Learning.

We Believe:

  • All teachers should have the same understanding about literacy instruction!
  • All students should learn reading and writing in every classroom!
  • All educators in a school should be “On the Same Literacy Page!” in order to more effectively help students read and write in the content classrooms.

What is it?

“On the Same Literacy Page!” is a four day cost effective professional development experience designed for the entire faculty and school leadership. NELMS uses research based strategies and our wealth of experience to provide teachers with a common knowledge and an intentional plan to implement consistent and effective literacy instruction – reading, writing, and speaking – in each and every classroom in your middle level school. Learning common strategies and information together will increase knowledge of effective practices, relevant professional conversations, and better results for students.

NELMS research-based strategies include:

  • Practical engaging session of the best “tried and true” strategies in literacy instruction!
  • The collaborative development of action plans to effectively implement strategies and assure sustainability.
  • Materials that utilize research-based practices for reading and writing instruction in content classrooms.
