
Exemplary Integrated Unit: Beane-Brodhagen Award
Purpose: NELMS seeks to honor exemplary student-centered integrated curricula consistent with the mission and beliefs of the New England League of Middle Schools and recognize creative middle level educators.
Who Should Apply: Middle level educators are encouraged to apply.
Selection Criteria:
- Has high expectations for all students
- Demonstrates active learning by students and connects to community
- Actively involves students in decision-making, choices of activities, and assessment
- Celebrates diversity
- Vitalizes a variety of appropriate instruction techniques
Application Process: The nominator must collect the following, and send all materials in one packet to: NELMS, 460 Boston Street, Topsfield, MA 01983.
- A copy of the unit.
- One to two page summary of the unit
- Samples of student work/product(s)
- Visual documentation - video, PowerPoint, photos, etc.
- Collect one letter of support, of not more than five hundred (500) words, from each of the following:
» A parent or community member associated with the nominee's current career
» A former or current student from the nominee
» A professional colleague of the nominee
Nomination Form Beane-Brodhagen Award 
Recognition: Those that receive an award will be recognized at the NELMS Annual Conference, receive a one-day registration to our annual conference, be given a one-year membership, and will be recognized in Mid Lines, the NELMS newspaper and E-news.
Deadline: The packet must be received by 4:30pm on October 17, 2008.
